Keeping Your Home Dust-free

Keeping Your Home Dust-free

Does it feel like keeping your home dust-free is a losing battle? Here are some practical and useful tips from home cleaning experts.

  1. Use a microfibre dust cloth.

Ordinary dusters and cloths tend to push and spread dust around before settling back down. Meanwhile microfibre cloth can trap the dust and dirt so the surfaces you wipe stay dust–free.

  1. Vacuum your surfaces with HEPA filter.

Vacuums with HEPA or high-efficiency particulate air filters help prevent dust from causing allergy and asthma reactions.  Vaccum weekly will prevent dust from accumulating in your home.

  1. Use an air purifier.

An effective air purifier can trap dust particles and remove air contaminants from your home so you are breathing better quality air. Just like your vacuum, the air purifier should have a HEPA system. This should be placed in areas that easily get dusty and where you usually frequent like the bedroom or living room.

  1. Minimise carpets and thick textiles.

While they may add to your home’s aesthetics, these types of fabrics can easily accumulate  dust that may be harmful to your family’s respiratory health. Opt for smaller-sized rugs that you can regularly wash and make sure to vacuum your curtains often.

  1. Change beddings weekly.

Your bedsheets and blankets tend to accumulate dust as well as dead skin – and even dust mites – so it is best to keep as clean as possible by changing your beddings weekly. Regularly clean any sofas or lounge chairs that are in your room as well.

  1. Groom pets in the bathroom.

Avoid brushing your furry pets in the living room or in areas where their fur can stick to fabrics and accumulate. Instead, groom them in a space that is easy to clean, like the bathroom.

  1. Clean houseplants.

Yes, houseplants need dusting, too! Dust their leaves regularly as part of your weekly cleaning routine to prevent them from getting too dusty.

  1. Minimize clutter.

Bric-a-brac and home decorations are notorious for gathering dust. Curate the

decorations you want to display in your home as it is easier and quicker to dust a few pieces than a whole collection.

Sticking to a regular cleaning routine will help ensure that your space is as dust-free as possible and improve your health and quality of life.
